well, not sure if it works the same everywhere in the world, but here, you first write the graduation thesis and then you have to publicly defend it.

if the defense committee (or is it an attack committee, since it is the student who is on defense? :D) can’t ask questions in a way to find out whether the student actually wrote the paper and understands the topic, then what fucking pseudo-scientific field is that?
