I’d love to focus on retro games, tech and other cool stuff that interests me. Problem is, even after blocking all sorts of instances and communities, and building up a word filter, I still see political (or in this case, geopolitical) posts all over the cesspit that is Lemmy.

I think part of what makes it special is how it shows gamers what the potential of 3D offered. With the blocky polygons and blurry textures of the N64, Nintendo gave high-res renders to show gamers the future. Almost like a “See how far we’ve come? This render is where we’re headed so jump on board!”
I wouldn’t want to claim this as a win for the open source community. Ukraine keeps pushing for war when peace talks should be the goal. Putin may not be listening either but it’s no surprise when Ukraine keeps pushing for escalation. Neither side has any excuses left at this point. Not a weird argument, that’s the same logic you used. Just because some kids might not agree with your decisions as a parent, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t make that decision. Caring what others think about your parenting style is exactly why we have so many messed up kids in the first place.

It’s mind blowing and it drives me further and further away from Lemmy on the regular. Keep up the good parenting and if I could offer my advice? Find a better place to ask for things like this, because all you’ll get are moronic replies like half the replies here.
I’m not saying I support this legislation but I’m really sick of the “parents should be parenting” excuse. Parents can be doing a great job with their kids and those kids will still see porn because of the way platforms push things (not to mention the ease of access of porn, which just needs to be outright banned).
The only solution, barring well-written legislation, is to not allow your kid to have a smartphone until they’re late teenagers, and ensure their access to computers is restricted to a public room, with appropriate monitoring.
That’s my plan whenever I have kids. However, something tells me a lot of people on Lemmy will take issue with that approach.

Genuinely have no idea how to dump my games. I have quite a few GameCube and Wii games myself, just wouldn’t know where to start trying the process of dumping.
If you’re on Android, you really need to use Kotatsu. If one source is taken down, you have a couple hundred other options and it doesn’t change the overall experience.
What I’m saying is that it doesn’t matter where the information is. If it’s absolutely crucial information, archive it, but if it disappears from Reddit or wherever, it’s not like someone else will be incapable of asking again, here or elsewhere.

Your problem is that you assume Ukraine is innocent. They’re not. They’re the antagonists. They knew Putin can’t resist pushing forward when they antagonize him further so they keep doing it to keep the flow of income from completely unrelated countries so the whack-job Zelenskyy, along with his backers and partners, can keep living like kings.
